Before any construction work can commence in Victoria, a Building Permit must generally be obtained. This permit ensures that the proposed building work complies with the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, National Construction Code (NCC), and Australian standards.

The Permit Process
A step-by-step guide to obtaining your building permit with us.
1Request Quotation
Send through your documents, drawings, & specification for quotation.
2Fee Proposal & Deposit
Once our fee proposal/ quote is accepted, we will send you an invoice for deposit.
3Assessment of Documentation
Once invoice for deposit is paid we will review documents/ complete assessment of all submitted documents and send you a building permit checklist, within 5-6 business days.
4Finalise of Documentation
Once all items on the building permit checklist is resolved/ provided to us we will send you the invoice for the remaining balance.
5Submit Application to VBA
Once remaining balance is paid we will submit building permit doucments to the VBA to obtain a building permit number within 4-5 business days.
6Issue of Building Permit
The VBA generally takes 1 business day to send us the building permit number. Once we obtain the permit number, we will issue Building Permit.
7Start Construction
Once you have received the Building Permit you are now permitted to commence works. Building works are to commence and be completed by the dates listed on the Building Permit.
8Mandatory Inspections
We are required to carry out the mandatory inspections as listed on the Building Permit. Our office is to be notified/ contacted of all mandatory inspections 24 hours prior to the inspection.
9Occupancy Permit/ Certificate of Final Inspection
After all mandatory inspections have been approved you will need to provide us with all the relevant Compliance/ trade Certificates. We will then issue the Occupancy Permit or Certificate of Final Inspection.
